Chance for Charities to Talk Business on April 17th 2012
There is a chance next month for charities in Dorset to get together, compare notes and sharpen their business skills.
On April 17 accountants Ward Goodman are holding the inaugural Dorset Charities Conference at Bryanston School, Blandford.
Jen Richardson, Ward Goodman charity specialist, says: “Organisers and executives will be able to meet like-minded charities and sector suppliers – we hope for mutual benefit.
“The ultimate aim of any charity must be to provide the best possible service to those who benefit from its work.
“Our speakers, who have a wealth of local charity understanding, will be exploring topics such as collaborative charity working, VAT opportunities, pension issues and fundraising.
“This is the opportunity to meet fellow charities and sector suppliers, to find out how you can help them and they can help you.”
The event is being organised in association with NatWest and WSX Enterprise, the Dorset business support specialists.
Jason Burgess, business development director from NatWest Commercial in Dorset, said: ” We are pleased to have been asked to support Ward Goodman in this year’s Dorset Charities conference. At NatWest we have a strong track record in providing advice to local charities and have designated specialists to demonstrate that we truly understand the needs and ambitions in this sector.”
Ian Girling of WSX Enterprise said: “In times like these, businesses need to be sharper than ever and charities need to be thinking as much like businesses as possible.
“They too need to make sure that that what they are doing is sustainable in a very challenging climate.
“They can gain by collaborating and working together, combining skills and expertise, and they can also take advantage of the business support that is available.”
Ward Goodman are also offering charities and sector suppliers the chance to bring a trade stand to the event, at no extra cost, to showcase their activities and raise their profile.
The event starts at 3pm on April 17. It is essential to book a place. For more information, call 01202 875900.
