Global Entrepreneurship Week at Poole Enterprise Library: We’ll Be There!
Poole Enterprise Library to celebrate first birthday and Global Entrepreneurship Week by hosting a number of business themed events
Poole Enterprise Library based in Poole Central Library, has announced plans for a week of one-off business themed events offering attendees the chance to speak to representatives from local business support organisations, explore whether their ideas can grow into a great business, work on their business plans and learn how to make it in the world of business from some high profile entrepreneurs. The events will take place as part of celebrations for Global Entrepreneurship Week, which this year runs from 16 – 22 November.
The week will open with a Business Information Fair on Monday morning from 10am-1pm. OutSet Bournemouth will be available to speak to those looking to start their own business from 10am-12pm on Wednesday. A live screening of the British Library’s ‘Inspiring Entrepreneurs’ event will be taking place from 6-9pm on Wednesday evening and the Samee Project will be available to help those new to business create the perfect business plan on Saturday from 9.30am-4pm.
Poole Enterprise Library, which has been a Global Entrepreneurship Week partner since its launch last year, hopes that these events will encourage local people considering entrepreneurship to take another step towards their dream and also promote the wide range of support organisations available to businesses throughout Dorset. These local events will form part of a week of global activities that highlight and celebrate entrepreneurship as well as offering practical support to those who are interested in setting up their own business or developing their business networks.
Councillor Xena Dion, Portfolio Holder for Local Economy, Culture and Leisure, said: “The Borough of Poole is committed to delivering the right conditions for businesses to grow and prosper. The Business Information Fair, celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week, is just one of the ways we’re doing that and also shows how our libraries are being utilised to work more creatively with local communities. This initiative highlights what can be achieved in supporting businesses by close partnership working between the public, private and voluntary sector.”
Isabel Oswell, Head of Business Audiences at the British Library said, “the British Library Business & IP Centre is once again getting involved in Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015, with a packed programme of workshops and events for entrepreneurs and small business owners. Our recent national impact study demonstrated that libraries can have a real economic impact in supporting people to create businesses and jobs in their local communities, and that’s why we and other libraries around the country are joining forces to support the campaign.”
Andrew Devenport, Chief Executive of Youth Business International, the organisation that coordinates Global Entrepreneurship Week UK, comments, “Global Entrepreneurship Week is celebrated in over 140 countries and provides practical support and encouragement to millions of people. This year, the theme for Global Entrepreneurship Week in the UK is Make it Happen, giving people the perfect opportunity to take action on their entrepreneurial ideas. We hope you find ways to #GEWmakeit!”
The above events are free to attend and will take place at Poole Central Library, Dolphin Centre, BH15 1QE. All require booking apart from the Business Information Fair so please visit www.poole.gov.uk/Libraries-Business or contact Nell O’Hora at email@example.com for more information or to book your place now.
