Driving Urban Enterprise

Driving Urban Enterprise, an 18 month project financed by the European Regional Development Fund, focused on providing business start-up support to new entrepreneurs in Bournemouth, Poole, Weymouth and Portland. Additionally, the project supported existing businesses within the same areas that displayed both the potential and aspiration to grow, with a particular emphasis on employing staff.

Acknowledged as ‘a fantastic project to have been involved with’ by the Department of Communities and Local Government, Driving Urban Enterprise achieved wide acclaim from project participants and delivery partners, resulting in a considerable ‘over performance’ in many target areas.

In summary, the project engaged with over 300 individuals during the project term, with 130 starting a business. We were also successful in our support for existing businesses in the creation of 50 new jobs for local people.
