Spotlight on the Marine Sector at Dorset Growth Hub’s Business Bootcamp!
Dorset Growth Hub in partnership with Dorset Engineering and Manufacturing Cluster are hosting a Marine Business ‘Bootcamp’ on the afternoon of Tuesday 5th June, as part of the Poole Maritime Festival Business Programme.
This free to attend event will explore the challenges, opportunities and support available for businesses who are currently operating, planning to expand or starting out in the marine sector.
A series of lively and engaging case studies will give practical examples of business development in a marine context. Marine businesses including Actisense and Moatt Sails will tell their own stories and explain their approach to the challenges they faced.
The case studies are supported by break-out sessions covering Business Planning, Finance and Funding, Marketing and Legal considerations. Delegates have the chance to put questions to our panel of experts and put together a business ‘toolkit’ including a list of contacts for next steps to support their business planning and development.
Nick Gregory from Dorset Growth Hub says “Our experience shows that the Marine Sector provides a wealth of opportunities for businesses in Poole and the surrounding area. We’ve worked with innovative people and businesses across Dorset and are pleased to have an opportunity to show how the Dorset Growth Hub and our partnership with DEMC can support local businesses.
Jane Warren from DEMC added “Being able to hold this event purely focused on the Maritime industry as part of Poole Maritime Festival is a great opportunity for businesses to learn and take inspiration from the local marine sector.”
The event takes place at Salterns Harbourside Hotel and is open to businesses at all stages of development – whether you are currently working in marine, or want to learn more prior to expanding or setting up in the marine sector. Entrance is free of charge.
This workshop is completely free and funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
