Mentor-net offers business support for small businesses through mentoring across the South of England.
It is a confidential business support service provided by the not-for-profit Mentor-net programme and volunteer Business Mentors, who are drawn from experienced members of the business community and the professions.
What does Mentor-net do?
Whether you want to grow your business, make it more efficient, or you need some assurance about the decisions you are about to make, a mentor can help you see the wood for the trees, help you make the right decisions and achieve your goals.
A mentor is there to act as a sounding board, to challenge your business ideas, guide you and to seek evidence that your plans for your business are sustainable.
Using their own business experience, a mentor will question and challenge you to explore all your options thoroughly.
They will help you to seek answers to any questions you may have and support you to make informed decisions, agree on actions and implement them.
Mentor-net recruits experienced business people to act as Volunteer Business Mentors, trains and support them, linking them with trading businesses in need of Mentoring support.
Each mentor is recruited and selected on a combination of factors:
- Business experience and knowledge
- Understanding of the issues and concerns of small businesses in Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire, Wiltshire and the Isle of Wight
- Ethical standards in business dealings
- Ability to mentor others as individuals and in the context of their business
All Mentors receive induction training, ongoing support and are required to sign a code of ethics.
We talked about how my business was growing and things I could put in place to assist my growth both now and in the future.
We looked at the different avenues of work that I currently undertake and identified markets that I could expand into and discussed in depth how this could affect the growth of the business.
